Cancellate : Consisting of a network of veins, without intermediate parenchyma, as the leaves of certain plants; latticelike. ;; Having the surface coveres with raised lines, crossing at right angles.

The term is now restricted to such a growth made up of aggregations of epithelial cells, either without support or embedded in the meshes of a trabecular framework.
